Tooth Exposure

Tooth exposure is a minor surgical procedure used by Dr. Molina when a tooth is stuck below the gums and cannot come in on its own. This condition is known as an impacted tooth. This most commonly happens with canine teeth, but it can also affect other teeth. If an impacted tooth is left untreated, it can damage nearby teeth, affect the bite or require removal later.

Instead of removing the impacted teeth, Dr. Molina exposes the tooth by removing the gum tissue (and bone if necessary) that is preventing the tooth from coming in. He positions the remaining gum so the tooth can erupt (come out) and function normally. He may also work with an orthodontist to bond an attachment to the tooth so it can be gently guided into place over time.

The goal is to preserve the natural tooth and support long-term oral health.
